Anyone who visits the Silbersack - Hamburg's most famous neighborhood bar - might be surprised at the piggy bank on the counter. The Silbersack owner Erna fed this pig for decades. their tip. The extraordinary landlady then regularly distributed the money collected in this way to kindergartens and youth facilities in the neighborhood. Erna knew exactly where her help was needed. 

In order not to let this help run dry after Erna's death, her successor Dominik founded the club "Der Silbersack e.V." together with a handful of members of "Erna's Jungs" - the pub's own soccer team. In memory of Erna's former commitment, the association has been supporting children, young people and cultural projects in St. Pauli and neighboring districts since its founding. 

The chairman of the board is Dominik Großefeld, the owner of the Zum Silbersack pub. In accordance with its statutes, Silbersack e.V. promotes children and young people (up to the age of 27), art and culture, monument and local history preservation, local history and sport. The association can hold its own events and projects as well as support third-party offerings that correspond to the association's purposes.
